International Training of Capacity Building of Earth Observation Products to Support the Emergency Assistance for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (EARR) and Enhanced Water Security Investment Project (EWSIP)

In the framework of cooperation between the Remote Sensing Utilization Center (Pusfatja) -LAPAN, the Directorate General of Water Resources-Ministry of Public Works & Public Housing (PUPR), Asian Development Bank (ADB), and European Space Agency (ESA) concerning the Enhanced Water Security Investmen Project (EWSIP) and Emergency Assistance for Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (EARR) of Central Sulawesi Province, International Training on Capacity Building for Use of Earth Observation was held on 17 to 21 June 2019 at the Aditorium Room, Building D, Pusfatja.

The event began with remarks from representatives of the Director of Water Resources Network Development, Directorate General of Water Resources-Ministry of Public Works, then an introduction and introduction to International Training activities on the use of ESA's Earth Observation Product in supporting the Enhanced Water Security Investment Project (EWSIP) by Paolo Manunta from ESA. Furthermore, the opening speech was also the opening of a training event by the Head of the Program and Facilities Division, Pusfatja, Mr. Syarif Budiman, M.Sc, as well as the acceptance of the Geohazard Exploitation Platform (GEP) license from ESA.

The training participants were 60 participants from various ministries and institutions including the Ministry of PPN / Bappenas, Ministry of PUPR, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Central Sulawesi Province Bappeda, Central Sulawesi Provincial Public Works Agency, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Training materials consist of the Copernicus program, Geo4IRBM products and services, the introduction of EO4SD to support disaster risk reduction, Copernicus Sentinel and ESA Earth Observation program and Geohazard Exploitation Platform (GEP), flood vulnerability and use of land cover were delivered by Paolo Manunta, Przemyslaw Turos, R. Dabrowsk, Alberto Lorenzo Alonso, Vicenzo Massim, Michail Foumelis and the Enhanced Water Security Investment Project (EWSIP) Team, European Space Agency (ESA)
